WEBMETHODS

http://anupamatechnologies.blogspot.in/2013/05/smo.html                                                       WEBMETHODS

WHAT IS WEBMETHODS?

webMethods is an enterprise software company, acquired by Software AG, focused on application integration, business process integration and B2B partner integration. Founded in 1996, the company pioneered the use of web services to connect software applications together within a single organization and across the Internet. In 2000, the company went public on the NASDAQ in the most successful software IPO to date, based on investor interest and first day share price appreciation. In 2002, the company was named by Deloitte as the fastest-growing software company in North America over the period 1998 to 2002. In 2007 webMethods was acquired by Software AG for $546 million, and made a subsidiary of that company. In 2010 the webMethods division of Software AG recorded over $668 million in revenues. Software AG retained the webMethods name, and uses it as a brand to identify a software suite encompassing process improvement, SOA enablement, IT modernization and business and partner integration.

  1. The company was founded in 1996 by Phillip Merrick and Caren Merrick. Their idea was to use the new standards of the Web such as HTTP and (later) XML to allow software applications to communicate with one another in real time. This type of technology would later be referred to as "web services", for which Phillip Merrick and early employees Charles Allen, Stewart Allen and Joe Lapp would be awarded a patent. The first product, called the "Web Automation Server" was released in August 1996; this was later superseded by the "webMethods B2B Integration Server", which was the company's first product to see significant commercial success.
Winning early customers and investors while focusing attention on consumer usage of the Web was difficult, and the founders used their savings and credit cards to keep the company operating. However, by 1999 the company had attracted customers such as DHL, Dell, Dun & Bradstreet and Hewlett-Packard, and had completed several successful rounds of venture capital investment. In March 1999 the company entered into a major partnership with SAP AG to create an SAP-focused integration product called the SAP Business Connector. The company began growing rapidly, going from revenues of just over $0.5M in 1997 to $14M in 1999 and $202M in 2001, aided in part by the acquisition of Active Software in October 2000. In February 2000, webMethods went public on the NASDAQ in the most successful software IPO to date, based on investor interest and first day share price appreciation. In 2003 Deloitte recognized webMethods as the fastest growing software company in North America, placing it at No. 4 on the Deloitte Fast 500 list of fastest growing companies.
The company was an early leader in developing and promoting standards for web service technologies, having pioneered XML-RPC, a precursor to SOAP, and developed WIDL (Web Interface Definition Language), a precursor to the Microsoft-sponsored WSDL standard. Engineers from the company have chaired several W3C working groups, and co-authored and co-edited web services standards such as XML Schema and WSDL 1.2.
Software AG acquired webMethods in 2007 for $546 million and announced that the brand webMethods will be retained, effectively making webMethods its flagship product line. 2009 saw the release of webMethods version 8.0, supplemented with other Software AG products such as Centrasite, Tamino and EntireX. In 2010, the webMethods ("BPE") division of Software AG recorded $668 million (499M Euros) in revenues and was a major contributor to overall company net income of $292 million (218M Euros).

MYSQL

MYSQL                                                      MYSQL

WHAT IS MYSQL?

MySQL "My S-Q-L", officially, but also called  "My Sequel" is (as of 2008) the world's most widely used open source relational database management system (RDBMS) that runs as a server providing multi-user access to a number of databases. It is named after co-founder Michael Widenius' daughter, MyThe SQL phrase stands for Structured Query Language.

Interfaces

MySQL Workbench in Windows
MySQL is a relational database management system (RDBMS), and ships with no GUI tools to administer MySQL databases or manage data contained within the databases. Users may use the included command line tools,or use MySQL "front-ends", desktop software and web applications that create and manage MySQL databases, build database structures, back up data, inspect status, and work with data records. The official set of MySQL front-end tools, MySQL Workbench is actively developed by Oracle, and is freely available for use.

SAP ABAP

SAP ABAP                                                           SAP ABAP

   WHAT IS ABAP?

ABAP is a advanced business application programme)
ABAP is one of the many application-specific fourth-generation languages  first developed in the 1980s. It was originally the report language for SAP R/2, a platform that enabled large corporations to build mainframe business applications for materials management and financial and management accounting.
ABAP used to be an abbreviation of Allgemeiner BerichtsAufbereitungsProzessor, German for "generic report preparation processor", but was later renamed to the English Advanced Business Application Programming. ABAP was one of the first languages to include the concept of Logical Databases (LDBs), which provides a high level of abstraction from the basic database level(s).
The ABAP language was originally used by developers to develop the SAP R/3 platform. It was also intended to be used by SAP customers to enhance SAP applications – customers can develop custom reports and interfaces with ABAP programming. The language is fairly easy to learn for programmers but it is not a tool for direct use by non-programmers. Knowledge of relational database design and preferably also of object-oriented concepts is necessary to create ABAP programs.

SAP Basis

The ABAP language environment, including the syntax checking, code generation, and runtime system, is part of the SAP Basis component/layer. SAP Basis is the technological platform that supports the entire range of SAP applications, now typically implemented in the framework of the SAP Web Application Server. In that sense SAP Basis can be seen as the virtual machine on which SAP applications run. Like any operating system, SAP Basis contains both low-level services (for example memory management, database communication, or servicing Web requests) and high-level tools for end users and administrators. These tools can be executables ("SAP kernel") running directly on the underlying operating system, transactions developed in ABAP, or Web-based programs.
SAP Basis also provides a layer of abstraction between the business applications, the operating system and database. This ensures that applications do not depend directly upon a specific server or database platform and can easily be ported from one platform to another.
SAP Basis currently runs on UNIX (AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, Linux), Microsoft Windows, i5/OS on IBM System i (formerly iSeries, AS/400), and z/OS on IBM System z (formerly zSeries, S/390). Supported databases are IBM DB2, Informix, MaxDB, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server (support for Informix was discontinued in SAP Basis release 7.00).

DBA

DBA                                                 DBA

WHAT IS DBA?(data base administrator)

DBA is a data base administrator.
A database administrator (short form DBA) is a person responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring and maintenance of databases in an organization.

SMO

SMO                                                        SMO

WHAT IS SMO?(SOCIAL MIDIA SERVICES)

Social media optimization (SMO) refers to the use of a number of social media outlets and communities to generate publicity to increase the awareness of a product, brand or event. Types of social media involved include RSS feeds, social news and bookmarking sites, as well as social networking sites, such as Twitter, and video and blogging sites. SMO is similar to search engine optimization in that the goal is to generate traffic and awareness for a website. In general, social media optimization refers to optimizing a website and its content in terms of sharing across social media and networking sites.

Relationship with search engine optimization

Social media optimization is becoming increasingly important for search engine optimization, as search engines are increasingly utilizing the recommendations of users of social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ to rank pages in the search engine result pages. The implication is that when a webpage is shared or "liked" by a user on a social network, it counts as a "vote" for that webpage's quality. Thus, search engines can use such votes accordingly to properly rank websites in search engine results pages. Furthermore, since it is more difficult to tip the scales or influence the search engines in this way, search engines are putting more stock into social search. This, coupled with increasingly personalized search based on interests and location, has significantly increased the importance of a social media presence in search engine optimization. Due to personalized search results, location-based social media presences on websites such as Yelp, Google Places, Foursquare, and Yahoo! Local have grown increasingly important. Rob Reed, founder of location-based marketing platform MomentFeed, has stated that, moving into 2013, local optimization on social platforms is now a "strategic imperative" rather than a "luxury".
While social media optimization is related to search engine marketing, it differs in several ways. Primarily, SMO focuses on driving traffic from sources other than search engines, though improved search ranking is also a benefit of successful social media optimization.

SEO

SEO                                                            SEO

  WHAT IS SEO?(Search Engine Optimization)

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine's "natural" or un-paid ("organic") search results. In general, the earlier and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine's users. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search, academic search, news search and industry-specific vertical search engines.
As an Internet marketing strategy, SEO considers how search engines work, what people search for, the actual search terms or keywords typed into search engines and which search engines are preferred by their targeted audience. Optimizing a website may involve editing its content, HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines. Promoting a site to increase the number of backlinks, or inbound links, is another SEO tactic.
